Riveredge Hospital provides adolescent and children’s partial hospitalization programs in Forest Park, Illinois, as well as serving communities in Chicago and the surrounding areas. Our compassionate staff is here to put your loved one first and involve you in the healing process.
Our adolescent and child partial hospitalization program is a therapeutic day treatment program offered to children ages 5 through 12 and adolescents 13 through 17 who are at risk of hospitalization in transition from an inpatient hospital stay, or experiencing functional impairment at home, in school or within the community.
Our teen and pediatric partial hospitalization program aims to serve individuals who require more structure than found in traditional outpatient services, but do not meet criteria for inpatient treatment.
Evidence-based educational and group treatment is provided in a structured, group therapeutic setting. In addition, academic credit can be earned through daily school sessions. PHP meets year round Monday–Friday 9:00 a.m–3:00 p.m.

Outpatient treatment from Riveredge Hospital, including PHP treatment, is designed for each individual child or teen, no matter what mental health issue they face. Whether it be depression, anxiety disorder or a mood disorder, we’re here to help.
The new Adolescent Partial Hospitalization Program; Substance Use Disorder Track provides the right help for teens struggling with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. The track will be part of our traditional PHP program, and adolescents identified to have SUD will be provided with supplemental substance use education.
Our adolescent Substance Use Disorder Track utilizes a multidisciplinary team to address the complex needs of those experiencing substance use disorders. A youth’s substance use can often be connected to personal history, environment and other life stressors. With this in mind, the SUD Track aims on treating those factors, which can include depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and anxiety disorders.
These outpatient services are appropriate for youth who meet criteria for any substance use disorder (marijuana or cannabis, alcohol, tobacco/vaping and other drugs). We provide every adolescent that comes through our program with current and evidence-based care for addiction treatment and prevention.
Mental health issues are not just an adult problem and are far more common in children and adolescents than you might think.
The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that nearly 13 percent of all individuals with a mental health disorder across the globe are between the ages of 10-19 — or one in seven people aged 10-19.
However, the consequences of failing to treat mental health issues early on in life can lead to problems later. According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, almost half of all people who experience a mental illness at some point in their lives showed symptoms before the age of 14.
As the National Institute of Mental Health states, Mental disorders can begin in childhood. Examples include anxiety disorders, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorder, depression and other mood disorders, eating disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Many adults who seek mental health treatment reflect on the impact of mental disorders on their childhood and wish they had received help sooner.
Acting early matters, and the stats back that up. An intensive outpatient program can provide the tools, skills and education necessary to help your child or teen with their mental health issues.
Riveredge Hospital, located in Forest Park, Illinois, can provide a child or teen partial hospitalization program that meets your loved one’s specific, unique needs.
